My Personal Development Story

During my years in college my friends and I took an interest in a certain topic that deviated from our regular studies. We became curious as to how we could improve our skills with talking to and seducing girls. Before taking our curiosity to the streets and getting more experience of our own we went to the internet and began to search for answers. We knew there was always room for improvement but we hadn’t even considered what we were about to find.

Seduction, the art of being a Pick Up Artist (PUA) was already being molded, perfected, and written about. We read with great angst and open minds; we knew this was an unorthodox approach and the things we were discovering were monumental and ingenious. They were also not what you would think them to be. Not just pick up lines and scripts of what to say to have the conversation go your way. At least not for me, I saw the bigger picture.

Some of the concepts these PUAs taught could be applied to other areas of life and did not always deal directly with the dynamic of the male-female interaction. They would prepare their apprentice by focusing on character, confidence, fitness and self-improvement. They would continue with lessons on overcoming the fear of rejection, gaining social and conversational skills. Sure, they went into more advanced techniques but the point is they concentrated on making a well-rounded, happy human being. Instead of just saying, love yourself for who you are, which to some might mean settling for a life of laziness, sloth, under achievement and social ineptness they helped people create the life that they dream of; that is the starting point.

One PUA taught visualization to his students in workshops. One such pupil admittedly  always pictured himself walking up to the pretty girl in the bar and her exaggeratedly rejecting him, and everyone else in the bar laughing at him. He turned that around and learned to visualize himself approaching the pretty girl, her greeting him with smiles and reciprocating his warmth. I thought “Wow, visualization is great! I bet I could apply this to just about anything!!”

So we did, and I did, we applied these concepts to every day life. We dove deeper into these studies and discovered the whole world of personal development. We discovered what it means to reap what you sow; we discovered the principles of time management and the secrets to success. For me, these studies have sparked an interest in what will be a life long journey, to become wiser, happier, richer; for myself, my family and for the greatest good of all.
