Setting Higher Standards on Milk

If you know me and have ever offered me milk then you’ve probably heard me say that “I don’t touch the stuff” or “I’m not that kind of person.” It is becoming more and more well known that milk is not a healthy thing to consume.

Ravi at SettingHigherStandards puts this matter practically:

“I suppose drinking the milk of an animal that suckles to grow from 100 to over 800 pounds in less than a year would surely cause some weight gain in a human being!”

He even has a statement from the Harvard School of Public Health to back up his claims. A claim that milk consumption has been linked with several forms of cancer! Additionally, Ravi provides a link to more information for pro-milk and anti-milk campaigns. Which side of the fence you are on?

There is an interesting little cartoon parody of The Matrix, about the dangers of the farming industry, at The Meatrix for your viewing pleasure.

Hi Alex, thanks for visiting my blog - I would reply to your question there, but my servers down today:-(

Re the John Chow review: The amount of traffic is small, about 20 or 30 visitors so far. The greater value is from the permanent link, for Technorati purposes and more importantly Google Pagerank. The higher value the links pointing to your blog, the more they can improve your PR.

Just had a read of your blog, looks very interesting: Have you read Steve Pavlina? If not, I think you’d enjoy his writing.

As for milk, I’m yet to be convinced either way - I think the key, as with everything else, is to take it in moderation. Everything is bad for us ultimately, that’s why we die ;-) (Over-simplified I accept, but if you have to give up everything you enjoy because of theoretical risk, why live?)

    Hey Chris.

Thanks for letting me know about that traffic question.

Glad you are enjoying my blog, come back often.

As far as giving up everything we enjoy, I believe that there are other things that I would enjoy even more knowing they aren’t causing catastrophic effects on my body. But, to each his own I guess :)
