Why I blog
In response to the tag from Gleb at Personal Development Ideas, I am going to participate in this meme about why I blog. But first, wikipedia’s definition of a meme for my non-blogging readers:
a unit of cultural information transferable from one mind to another
Basically, someone picks a topic and it gets passed around for everyone to voice their opinions and give their input. So here’s mine.
Why I Blog
1. It is really fun. I enjoy being creative and having the control of what I am going to say next and where my blog/site will go.
2. I feel like it is a great way to improve my writing skill. Can anyone think of a better way to improve their writing other than writing, and writing some more?
3. It’s a great way to get information out to people. I do all this studying for life, and I find myself in situations where my hours of studying can be injected into a person within minutes. Still, minutes multiplied by many people equals many hours. Blogging allows me to get this info out to a wide audience and limits the audience to only those that want to hear my opinion.
4. It is a great way for me to learn. I actually feel like I’ve increased my personal development in take now that I have started blogging. I feel like when I learn something I try to learn it in greater detail, so that I feel confident in my ability to transcribe my knowledge into a practical format. Also, I read a lot of other personal development blogs, something that I did not know was out there until I started blogging.
5. It makes me immortal. My writings, my lessons and my personality become immortal when they hit the paper. Granted sites can go down and all this info could be gone for good, but I’m hoping it will last way after I’m gone and someone could get some use out of my experiences.

Thanks for including me, but I’ve already answered the question in

I blog for pretty much the same reasons that you do. A combination of reasons centred on me and reasons centred outside me.
I started blogging only a month ago just to have a feel of it. It’s fun and addicting. It’s bad if you can’t control it.
Also, I thought it’s a great way of expressing oneself without the fear of others criticizing what you do, say or write. I was wrong. Everyone’s watching and reading, some even listening.
That’s blogging for me.
I think you hit it on the nail with this one. I agree with everything you said.
Hi, Alex! Me again, learning what a “meme” is, so I can pass the information along in my world with the Gotta Get Goals project. I read your About — you sweet young thing! (That is not a come on, I’m just feeling old!) I think you are what they call an ‘old soul’ and I wish you the very best in your many interests. Here I am, an old dog (figuratively, of course!), learning new tricks. It’s good to be extraordinary, which assures your life will be the same. Thanks for the info & very positive outlook!
I blog because I can’t help myself — this is the best way to amuse & entertain myself, support my book & offline writing, and enjoy a running conversation, even if no one else is listening! It really helps maintain sanity with young children around, too.
But I also blog out loud, instead of in a journal, because words & experiences can help someone else along their journey, just to know they are not alone in their thoughts & challenges. We never know what might help, who or when, and the beauty of the blog is that it’s all out there. Right on #5!
