Creating Definitive Purpose To Evoke Optimal Productivity

Wednesday is Productivity Day at AlexShalman.com
Your motivation is so astronomical that if it were a rocket you would shoot right past the moon and smack into Jupiter. The problem is you were just trying to stop off at the bank, dry cleaner, and pick up dinner on your way home. Unfortunately, a lack of focus and a task list of 50-or-so bulleted items landed you with no cash, no clothes, no dinner and a spinning headache.
You did manage to call back your cousin Sue, buy paper towels, and stop off at the car wash. You find yourself pondering where you went wrong and come up with some really good questions.
How do I know what are the most important things to get done today?
- Will not doing it cost you a significant amount of time or money?
- If this item is ignored, will somebody’s health be in jeopardy?
- Is this taking you one step closer to your life goals?
How can I stay focused and make sure I get these important things done?
- Establish your integrity muscle. Whenever you commit to something, get it done without excuses.
- Plan for tomorrow today. Decide what the most important things to get done are. Write them down at the top of your paper, in an individual section. You can than follow up by the other less important tasks.
- Keep it to three. Pick only your three, most vital goals for the day. If you do nothing else, do them.
This is my productivity system in a nutshell. It’s better to do a few, meaningful and imperative tasks, than spend the day scatter brained doing mundane tasks that are of little importance. The only way to push full steam ahead through life, aimed directly at your goals, is via one deliberate step at a time. Otherwise, see you on Jupiter!

i like the concept of the integrity “muscle”… you are right.. we need to work this muscle very often, and i think the more often we work it out the easier it will get.. its like a cycle.. once u start to make excuses your muscle slowlystarts to deflate and you’re not buff anymore.. not good. being buff is way more attractive.. hah well i’m goin off on a tangent now. just wanted to say good post. and i suppose i should stop procrastinating by reading your blog, relax, and then hit up the studying.. ciaou
