What Kind Of Woman Can I Get For A Rib?

Have you ever wandered what really happened in the Garden of Eden?

Adam was walking around the garden of Eden, moping. G-d asked him, “What is wrong with you?” Adam replied that he was lonely and didn’t have anyone to talk to.

G-d said that He was going to make Adam a companion and that it would be a woman. He said, “This person will gather food for you, cook for you, and when you discover clothing, she will wash it for you. She will always agree with every decision you make. She will bear your children and never ask you to get up in the middle of the night to take care of them. She will not nag you and will always be the first to admit she was wrong when you’ve had a disagreement. She will never have a headache and will freely give you love and passion whenever you need it.

Adam asked G-d, “What will this woman cost?”

G-d replied, “An arm and a leg.”

Adam thought a moment and asked, “What can I get for a rib?”

If you were Adam, what choice would you have made? ;)

LOL..me and my father in-law think he should have gone for the arm and leg.

    An arm and a leg… that’s kind of a lot to give… that’s why I’m suggesting using a bigger rib ;)

Being a gal, I can’t imagine wanting to make a decision like that.

The story reminds me of a line by Isaac Asimov: “Women are to blame for all the problems in the world. The Bible tells us so.” It cracks me up to think of myself as that powerful.

Jean, you ARE more powerful than you think!

  • http://cheerfulmonk.com Jean Browman–Cheerful Monk

    Alex,
I didn’t say I wasn’t powerful. I just said not powerful enough to cause all of the problems of the world. :)

Jean, I have faith on you, I think you could do it! lol

I’d tell God he’s not a very good designer. That woman wouldn’t be challenging at all.

  • http://www.alexshalman.com Alex Shalman

Ok Mark, I can respect that you enjoy a challenge.

  • Anna Kravtsov

haha that’s hilarious… i wouldn’t give up anything and see what i would get..

I would assume that if you give up nothing, you get nothing?

Lol no way Steven! I love my female readers!!!

I hope I’m not sensing mutiny in the comment box!

Hey, I was very nice. I didn’t answer your comment, “I love my female readers!!!”, with the question, “Ah, but do your female readers love you?” See how nice and forgiving I am?

Anyway, you started a nice interaction. Thanks. :)

Hey now… play nice in the comment box… I think this calls for a poll… “Dear Female Readers – Do You Love Me? Check Yes or No”.

  • http://cheerfulmonk.com Jean Browman–Cheerful Monk

I’ll vote yes. After all, I recently wrote a post on Love, Compassion and a Lot of Humility. I have to practice what I preach.

You might ask your female readers what they think of the joke. I laughed out loud, and so did my husband when I told it to him. On the other hand, it is capable of being offensive. Just food for thought. :)

Hmmm… I guess I made the site out to be “Practical Personal Development For People With A Sense of Humor”… I definitely do not wish to segregate by any means! ;)

Alex, don’t worry, you didn’t do anything wrong.

Mark, Really? It’s sad that even though the bible specifically states that when God created woman He created her to be Adam’s helpmate. But thanks to the feminization of our culture we are now expected to believe that the woman’s primary benefit is to challenge us to the point of battling us to “make us better”. Certainly part of being our helpmate means she won’t always agree and should certianly voice her thoughts and opinions to give us a different perspective. However, all too often now, that means she will argue until we give in.

To Steve, that’s the problem, men are denigrated in this culture from cradle to grave. The message in everything from cartoons to sitcoms and dramas, and even from the pulpit is the idea that at best we are useless idiots and at worst violent predators and the whole world would be better of if we just faded into the background and listened to the women in our lives. Meanwhile a simple joke like this is off limits and will offend women to the point they will leave. I hope it’s not really this bad, but it seems to be.
