The Gift of Intuition

Editor’s Note: This post was written by Karen Lynch of Live The Power.
Back in the days before GPS systems, Mapquest on the Internet and cell phones in every pocket, there were still very effective ways to determine directions and navigate a course.
In the northern hemisphere, an explorer could look up into the night sky, locate the north star and the directions were clear. When the direction of North was located, the rest fell into place. Nature had provided the perfect set of directions.
Nature has also provided each and every one of us with the perfect navigational tool. We were given the gift of the perfect guidance system to help us navigate all of the times of our lives at birth.
We just need to listen and learn how to use it. All of us are gifted with a sixth sense, a gift of intuition. Some of us have learned to use it more effectively while others of us tend to discount this sense. Some of us may have a certain “talent” that makes intuition our strongest sense. It is true that not all of us were meant to be “psychic” and to have and use the gift to that degree. But then again, not all of us were meant to be Opera singers either. But it’s not that we can’t sing, it’s that we don’t have the natural talent to use it at that level.
There are those who doubt intuition just because they can’t see it. It is not always obvious, like our sense of sight or our sense of hearing but it is still a vital force that helps us navigate and sense our lives.
We just need to learn to listen to it and heed its wisdom.
Most everyone can recount a time when they just had a “hunch” about something and it turned out to be right. Most everyone can recall when they absolutely “knew” something without any outside influences.
I know that most of us can appreciate and hope that we and our loved ones can be “alerted” if we find ourselves in a certain danger with the “gift of fear”. We all have the gift.
The question becomes how much do we use it?
Intuition can show up in many different ways, sometimes you may hear it called a “Still, small voice” and there are times that it manifests as words, sometimes it is a “hunch” just a hint of something, often it shows up as just a feeling in the solar plexus, the head or other part of the body. There are times when it screams at us and times when it is just a quiet knowing. When you learn to listen you’ll know how and when it is providing you with information. But it has to come from inside you.
No one else can tell you how your intuition will speak to you.
When we learn to use it as effectively as we can, this sixth sense can guide our lives every bit as effectively as our other senses that we have come to depend on. But if it doesn’t come to you naturally, the trick of course, is learning how to use it. So like everything else, start practicing.
Tell yourself you will know who is calling on the phone before you look at the caller ID. Tell yourself what is in your mailbox before you pull out the mail. Just tell yourself that you will know something that you really have no logical way of knowing and then allow it to happen.
Allow the information to come to you. It will. Tell yourself you will recognize the information. You will.
Trust yourself. Your own Inner Being will never lead you wrong.

Great post Karen =)
Thanks for the opportunity Alex!
I don’t know Karen. My GPS has a better track record than mt intuition. Lol…but my intuition does impress me and others as long as finding my way to a physical address is not involved.
While i am a strong believer in intuition, thirty years of backpacking and nineteen of search and rescuing people who trusted there intuition makes me put it on the back burner in the wilderness. learn how to read a map and compass please. People who seem to have a sixth sense are usually just a lot more observant
