These are pretty common suggestions and many I've read before. I thought this article was going to be about what I can do AT THIS VERY MOMENT to get through the work day, not what I can do in life in general. How do I get through this next hour, for instance?

One thing that I find useful and very simple when needing to reduce stress of any kind is deep breathing. About one minute of deep belly breathing really takes a lot of tension out of your system. I also like to play relaxation videos at relaxwithnature.com sometimes.

Then I can sympathize with you, Jason. There is something about these work lifers that robs them of any sort of optimism. The 9 to 5 grind is all they know, so they think nothing else is possible. Oh well, more opportunities for us.

You know what, #4 should be #1. I can't stand it when someone tells me I can't do something. When you think you can't do something, you foreclose everything about an opportunity. Even if it's difficult to do, if you asked yourself, "How can I do this," the world opens and, all of a sudden, that task doesn't seem so difficult.

I like #4 the best. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do something !!!

I wouldn't be anywhere near where I am today had I listened to people around me.

Besides, it's so much fun in proving them wrong.

There's an old saying. Ask a group of engineers to do something. Half of them will tell you it can't be done and the other half will go out and do it . . .
