I hate the "would'a, should'a, could'a" blues. I took note that 3 of your 5 suggestions are centered on people. A great reminder and something to ponder about.

Not forgetting, of course, that regret is a more or less voluntary emotion. We don't feel that we control it, but unlike anger or disappointment it's not something that has quite the same distinct trigger - and this makes dealing with regret easier.
The two methods I find best just for dispelling it are:
1. Acknowledging that if I hadn't made the mistake I could easily be in a worse place than I'm in today (even if I supposedly missed out on a great opportunity).
2. Acknowledging that it's in the past and I have the rest of my life to do better.

Hi Mike,

Walking away with the extra money that the cashier gave you will not be a great idea.Thinking of the bad situation that the cashier will get into will really make us feel guilty about it.

Cheers
