I like that story, especially the man's beaming face when he picked up the dollar. I don't think there's one answer that fits every situation. Sometimes it would be irresponsible to just give your dollar away, like if you owe it to somebody. Other times, if done in the right way (whether anonymously or not), it can really help someone in need. Again, thanks for sharing that great story.

It's always better to give - it's a universal law that we must give in order to receive. The universe likes flow... Here's an example from my own personal life. I have a separate bank account that's called my giving account. I put 10% of my income into that account and the goal is to spend in a charitable way every month. Here's where it gets weird. If I ever try to "save up" for a few months in an attempt to give something "bigger", an emergency always comes up where I have to dip into that account to cover the expense. But, as long as I make sure to give that money away every month, there's always enough in my other accounts to cover any unexpected expenses. :-)

The universe likes flow and will create in your life one way or another...

Thanks for visiting. I don't always have all the answers (surprised?), and I love to harness the wisdom of my amazing readers, so that I too can learn something!

Hey Alex, great article. I mostly enjoyed it because you didn't come here to tell us this is what you should do, you shared your story and let the rest just evolve. Meaning you let us just figure this out on our own.

I am about to read your book How to get a girlfriend, I really enjoyed the article you wrote for John Chow about dating and business.

It will be great to give a dollar. It is always about giving before receiving.
