Thanks Alex, great tips, fun pics and smart composition. Taking your cue, I'm unplugging Saturday to do simple fun writing, very relaxing. Also to do things 'slow' that are usually rushed, like food shopping, cooking and eating.

Amazing tips Alex! The one I do everyday is #3. I love my treadmill...definitely doesn't sound relaxing but it's worth every bit of it especially for major stresses that have your mind running in several directions and just won't let you relax! Plus, you get a decent work out too!

Oh yeah...and treadmill + inspiring music = brand new chance at getting that thing (whatever is stressing you out) done...

Number five already gives me anxiety, but I was actually thinking about number 10 recently. Writing about oneself, or fiction of our imagination, is a great way to relax and just reconnect with our own thoughts before getting bombarded with everyone else's. Bringing a journal is also great. I find my best ideas come to me when I have no intention of writing.

I love the thank you letters - as it seems to always be in the back of our minds who we might have forgotten about or thank. And the hammock and grapes sound wonderful, Marina. I'm with you girl!

its easy to get sucked into a workaholic mentality, but it must be balanced with relaxation and peace.

i really appreciate the practical and easy to use action steps.

Funny- I was just looking at my cat today and thinking what a life she has. One thing I suggest is to grab that moleskin and turn to a clean page and just simply throw down the gratitude. We all have many things to be thankful for- sometimes we have to remind ourselves of that. When you are done I dare you to be stressed! :-)

Great list, although fortunately I have no problems relaxing. Well, actually I do, but since instituting rules (like no work after dinner nor on weekends) I find it very easy to relax.

Basically take away the temptation and I'm good to go! (or in this case not to go) ;)

Hi Alex,

Thanks for the list and I particularly like point number 5. In this modern world, many of us carry a cellphone and surf on the net excessively. By switching off our phone and not using the internet, we can really avoid lots of distraction.

Relaxing is definitely useful because it is just like sharpening a saw before using it. Sharpening a saw will help us be more efficient in sawing and it works the same as relaxing and renewing ourselves.

I did an article that elaborate on the importance of renewing ourselves, maybe you will be interested in it.

@Jesvin "If money can buy you love or happiness, its definitely a cat" LOL, definitely quote worthy. The only problem is, I don't think you have encountered an animal that doesn't like you. You still have to be nice to them, or they'll hate you!

@Danny - A man after my own heart. Let me know what is your favorite type of massage. I don't splurge on these too often, only a couple of times really, but I've come to find out that there are SO MANY KINDS.

I like "Say No" the most. Too often, I try to be all things to all people. This leaves very little for me. Thanks for the great list Alex.

This is a great list for anyone to chillax and take it easy for once. It's tough to be productive when your are over extended, so thanks for putting together this info to help us decompress, and appreciate the finer things in life.

Great list Alex. My top choices are the massage and hot bath! I also enjoy reading blogs, listening to podcasts and treating myself to a meal out or delivery.
