    Good move!

Here’s the irony. For December, I focused on running M – F. In January, I’m focusing on doing full splits again (it’s the former Kick Boxer in me.)

I’ve used 30 Day Improvement Sprints for the past few years. Each month, I pick a focus. You can think of this like Agile goal setting. The beauty is, each month, I pick one thing that’s important and I focus on it. Before that I used to dabble in too many things at once. Now, I know that each year I get to cycle through 12 themes. It’s incredibly effective. If one of my improvement sprints really inspires me, then the next month, I can pick the same theme, but at least I’m always asking “what’s the next best thing to do?”

One of my most interesting 30 day improvements sprints was for Living Foods (http://blogs.msdn.com/jmeier/archive/2007/03/09/30-days-of-living-foods-ends-today.aspx )

BTW – key tip with your daily run – link it to feeling good. I made a mistake when I started by listening to training material. I finally switched to my favorite workout music and then running became way more fun.

Running everyday will be a great goal to achieve Alex… and I hope you achieve it! My goal is to workout 4 times for a week, for at least one hour. If I do more then great!!! My other goal is to launch my LinkedIn success book and become a best selling author. Looking forward to reading more of your blog in 2009!

nice goal! you’re going to be one of those people that are out there in the pouring rain and snow aren’t u? i usually make a couple of goals and get close to them or somewhat do all of them, but never do any of them to the max.. so maybe 1 goal is a good idea… now i have some thinking to do…

My goal for 2009 is OPERATION MODERATION! A friend of mine told me that he began doing this and it worked for him, meaning instead of having six beers a night have one or two, instead of going back for seconds at dinner, don,t. You can apply this idea to any obsession that you have, if you work ten hours a day because you love to, but miss out on family time cut back to 8 hours and spend more time with your family, etc. It has been working for me so far , its realistic, obtainable and it is just one goal, so it makes you think a bit about your obsessions and work on that one thing that will make you feel better each and every day without completely taking that thing you love to do completely out of your life style, like most resolutions do.. Make sense?
