Heya Mr Selfdevelopment and Alex!

Cool cool post:) I made a similar one not too long ago. I'd say too much processed foods/sugar is definitely one of the biggest drains of energy. Also, a regular sleep routine with at least 8 hours a day makes a big difference:)

Thanks for sharing!
Keep well

@ Duff,

I believe the point is to avoid listening to "garbage"....which implies, if it's not garbage, then it's okay to listen to....

I'm not saying you should be "uninformed," but "selective" as to where you get your information...

Nearly all personal development writers advocate for not paying attention to news. While I agree that we should avoid "junk-food news," there are many quality news sources available that nourish our involvement in society.

I suggest reading the 1st 3rd of The Week, which summarizes major news from all news sources in a weekly digest, or The Economist, which takes a bit more knowledge of economics and world affairs to dive into, or even just the Sunday edition of the New York Times.

Subscriptions can be shared with friends and family, making for good topics of discussion.

If we totally opt out of news, we disempower ourselves politically, giving more power to those who know what's happening in the world. We also miss out on opportunities to be involved in solving the major problems of our age.

And... as I've found out after yesterdays workout - if you're going to go HARD at the gym, you're body is going to need time to sleep/nap and repair itself the next day. I'm hoping this translates into HUGE energy levels later. :)

Key #4: Wake-up early and Get Ready Every Morning

My favorite key of all. This is something i plan on doing from now on. Waking up late has made me lazy and very immobile. Thanks!

@ Daniel,

Thanks for commenting....I think the point that we're both making is that you need a sufficient amount of sleep in order to function properly...sleep deprivation is not your friend... :)

The amount of sleep differs slightly from person to person...7 hours of sleep is an ideal which will work for most individuals...

I don't watch the news too! Save for the comics section if I ever chanced upon any newspaper on the table.

While you've wrote about getting 7 hours of sleep, I had wrote an article on the top 10 reasons for 6 hours sleep for productivity. But one thing we agree on in both posts would be that ... 3 hours of sleep is definitely not enough -- not even 4 hours is sufficient! :)

@Eli - The guy in the image looks really silly, and happy - a reminder to not be too serious, lol. I have really knocked out any bad news from entering my life. I used to date a girl who was OBSESSED with bad news, would watch it each night, and was an overall unhappy person. I'm not saying my ears don't perk up when someone talks about what's going on in the world, but I certainly don't go after the news anymore. You'll get over it too. My best tip for that is to just stay busy with lots of good stuff!

#3, The news addiction is my current challenge. I have an obsessive compulsion about clicking on Google News. I changed my hosts file on my laptop to point to my own website as a reminder that it's not healthy. Great post! I hope to God I never look like the guy in the image though. ;-)

@Gordie - Garage clean? Better man than I am, lol. Vitamin D is crucial, I definitely don't get enough - Great suggestion.

@Faramarz - Sugar sucks, you're right. I didn't have it for 3 weeks straight, and then gave in to some warm chocolate chip cookies when visiting my parents, and I really FELT it afterward.

My garage is empty. Lol!

Anyway, nice post. I think you should go out into the sun topless and without sunscreen for ten minutes every sunny day. It will help your body create more Vitamin D which is vitally important to your health. Don't over do it, 10 minutes without sunscreen is enough.
