Problogger New York City Event

Thursday night was the Problogger, New York City event, sponsored by text-link-ads. I got to meet some fun people, including Problogger’s very own Darren Rowse. He tells me it’s pronounced like mouse, with an R (go figure). We talked a bit about things that didn’t have anything to do with blogging (who would have thought). I got to meet his lovely wife “V”, I still don’t know what “V” stands for… big mystery. They’re traveling with their 9 month old baby boy Xavier. Do you know what a plane ride from Australia to the states is like with a 9 month old? Darren confirmed that Melbourne is far better than Sydney as far as cultures go. I had a hunch, but now I know the real deal.

I met some other interesting people, including Elaine Vigneault and her husband Edward Miller. She has a personal blog, about hippy stuff and he is a Poker Guru and author of 3-4 poker books. Thanks for the free book Ed.

I met Keith Levenson, of Vibrator.com. I think the title is self explanatory. Very charismatic guy, and he’s doing well for himself in that biz.

Daniel Goldman, an anti-Firefox, I mean pro-Opera blogger. He actually works for Opera as well. Fan and employee? Nice.

Jeffrey Keefer was there, a blogger that’s lived in New York for 20 some odd years. He runs a website called Silence and Voice.

I met Brock Siegel, of pepperjammanagement.com. An affiliate management team based out of PA. They were definitely having the most fun that night, taking full advantage of the open bar the seven of them were quite something.

I met the founder of Nerd-music.com. Talented young guy, web designer and disk jockey. What a combination.

I met Mike Levin, of hittail.com. He assures me that their algorithm is superior to 103bees and that they’ll find you the best keyword, garaunteed.

The trip was fun, and well worth it. Connolly’s proved to be a good spot for a meeting, with 60-100 people in our little group. Once again, thanks to text-link-ads for sponsoring this event (and covering the bar tab).

I suspect my next blogger meetup may be mid-may in Chicago, with the SobCon group. This will be a real event, with great speakers. Hosted by my buddy Liz Strauss from Successful-blog.

    Alex,

Thanks for the recap of the event. I checked out Darren’s pics, and now with your recap, I got an even better feel for the event.

Very cool stuff, and I will be sure to catch one eventually.
